Friday Night Glo Ski

Three nights per season (weather allowing), come out to the lighted trails at OO with your friends and family for a fun time skiing under the lights!!! HNK will provide chocolate milk and glowing necklaces and bracelets, so you can keep track of your skiing partners.

It’s a fun time for all ages; just make sure that kids are accompanied by an adult (or two if you bring a large group). There is no designated end time, but the goodies will be available around 6:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Friday, January 19, 2018

Friday, February 2, 2108

Friday, February 16, 2018

Our organization relies on one fundraiser every year to purchase new equipment and keep costs of lessons and rentals low for future skiers. We ask that every family participate by selling Gourmet Cookie Dough and individually packaged frozen Gourmet Meats from Greater Midwest Fundraising. Order forms and the 2018 fundraiser flyer will be available at rental equipment distribution on December 11 and at the first lesson on January 7. Please take orders between December 11, 2017 and January 21, 2018, and then turn in all order sheets and money collected at lessons on January 21. Products will be delivered in mid-February. Pick up information will be available as the date gets closer.

End of Year Race & Picnic

On the day of the last lesson each season, we like to celebrate each young skiier’s success with a fun race. Start times are staggered for each age group, and groups traverse different courses and loops at OO depending on their skill level. Everyone receives a handmade ceramic medal at the finish line, and congratulations from their parents, friends and coaches. We are proud to distribute these awesome works of art made by our High School Art Class students, taught by Kelly Egger. It is a tradition started many years ago, and they’ve become collectible memories of so many area kids’ experience through Hayward Nordic Kids.

We also like to share a little camaraderie with the HNK family – our coaches and volunteers, your amazing students, your friends and family, and YOU! Please join us for lunch after the race.

Special thanks goes to Scott Klohn and Mark Semano for providing DJ services and announcements during the race, to the Art Department for the medals, and to Northwoods Craft & Variety for donating the ribbons for the medals.
